Some months ago the section in the dashboard which allowed members to view thumbnails of all the images in their portfolios, specifically with reference to the number of views which they received, was changed so as to enable us to see only the "top" 20 images. At the time many people complained but we were assured that a new system would be put into place. To date (to my certain knowledge).... NOTHING!!! Unfortunately this seems to be a pattern on this site, in that the administrators ignore members' complaints and requests and make empty promises.

Any comments? If I'm wrong, please can someone correct me?

I think it all comes back to this site being purely a social site mostly for people that dabble in photography and modelling. Yes there are some pro's here across the board but mostly it is a social site. (or has become one) I think it was initially intended to be more professional but it has become somewhat of a fun thing. I do know that 90% of the pro's on here really don't take it seriously at all. There was talk of all kinds of functionallity from the onset and who knows this may one day happen, but will it change the professionalism etc of the site itself?

Agree with DNAP, and we must also remember that it is a free site, with nothing really in it for the developers. Functionality is always limited with free sites.

Im only here for the beer, although I have met some amazing people here. MB is more of a social site. I cant even give away paid work here. Perhaps i should change it to TFCD and pocket the profit. hehehe.

If there is nothing in it for the developers, then why do it at all???
At one time, I and others suggested that there should be a subscription fee, but it was seemingly rejected.
Sadly, what could have been a really great site, has degenerated into ???, I don't quite know what — Perhaps a place where wannabees think they can become famous and make a quick buck.

Blade once sayed he set up this site for the fun of it...and to try and connect aspring models and togs, so "nothing" is not entirely true ;o)

Yes Vero, this certainly worked well in the early days, but things have degenerated and in my opinion some of the changes made to this site have certainly not made things better, just the opposite.

Does Blade check the forums to see what is being said? (not a personal dig at blade)
...my point is, there has been some members on this site since the beginning and enjoy being part of the site, so Im sure a few wouldnt mind moderating here and there. Just to keep things on track and moderate whats uploaded aswell.

If you load onto a site like istock and the admin reject your pic, you don't start a fight, they give you a url to follow to improve and thus improve the site.

You know....stuff like that.....

I am reminded of and old story
:

A beggar sits outside the gate of an old city, when a traveler arrives. He asks the beggar about the people in the city, and what they are like.

The beggar asks the travel what the people in the previous city he was in where like. The man says they where unfriendly and cliquey and untalented and almost useless to a man, all they ever did was complain, and sulk and moan.

The beggar looks up and says in this city the people are just the same.

Not long after a second traveler arrives, and asks the beggar the same question. Again he asks the man what the people in the previous city where like. To witch the man says, They where the friendliest and most pleasant people he had ever met, fun talented, shared and where a pleasure to be with.

The beggar looked up and said the people in this city are just the same.

Now wouldn't that be an easy way out? And so typical of the general approach which we South Africans are so often guilty of. As in, "Let's not make a fuss..." or "It's too much effort..."

Simply put, a feature which is an important indicator of the level of acceptance of an image among the broader and more generalised community has been removed. The promised replacement has not materialised. And I'm just supposed to accept it??? HELL NO! And leaving would be just like running away... Puk puk pukAK...

MB ain't a country. It is what it is.

If we were paying taxes to be here then go wild...but that isn't the case.

I'm not saying I like it here because I'm finding the socialite-esque BS a bit tiresome to say the least. But my point is, it's for free, it doesn't try to be something else, and we're free to come and go.

I've explained time and time again that there is a reason certain functionality has been removed.

image views were taxing the database and slowing the site down.
until we move to faster servers (set for October ) it will remain off.
additional functionality has also been put on hold for now.

its all coming, patience please

Hmm I wouldnt put too much stock into whether or not the "broader community" accepts an image or not. As everyone has been saying, this is a fun site.

There are some awesome images on this site with seemingly little acceptance (as in comments) and then there are plain k@k images with HUGE "acceptance"

The site is what it is.
