If anybody knows an edgy fashion designer that would like their work photographed, please let me know. I need some images for my portfolio.

Oh this is in CT.

Have you tried contacting some of the technicons, whom offer fashion design courses?

A lot of the students may be keen to have some shots taken of their work. If youre convincing enough, they may even help you out on the day with styling.

The Cape Town School of Fashion Design is a good source.

3rd & 4th year students there have established their own 'style' & you can chose whose stuff you like. Just be nice to them, because many of them have been taken for a royal ride before.

hahahaha. It all depends mate. The easiest way is to do a deal with a stylist. Tell her/him what you want and they will source it for you.

I can give you a few names if you like. Sometimes they will do TF work

I recently sourced some great stuff for my Fashionata project from The Cape Town School of Fashion Design.

I suggest attending fashion shows like CT Fashion Week, etc. Spot designers who's work you like, and just approach them...You win some, you lose some :)

Hehe - not in person, by email, man. But honestly, if you want to access good fashion a degree of effort and pursuasion is required. Most designers and boutiques have been burnt in the past by photographers who damage garments or don't return them, and then never provide the promised shots on disc, etc.

The trick is to get yourself into the position where you can walk into a boutique, select the stuff you want and simply sign it out, returning it a few days later :) Or as Mark mentioned, work with a stylist who has those connections. A stylist is sounding like your best options right now :)
