Matt, mostly all software (if it ran on Lion) will run fine on ML. The only one I know of that wont is Little Snitch, which needs a small upgrade. Although, you can still download the LS trial from their site for free, which runs in 3 hr stretches, and then you have to start it again.

Ive installed ML and all on my applications work just fine. Some of them will download small updates, which are free, but essentially if it ran on Lion, it will run fine with ML.

If youre worried, check this out:

Although a lot of those incompatibilities came about way before ML. Basically when MacOS stopped incorporating Rosetta, which if memory serves correct was two or three OS's ago.

I sucessfully installed ML from the App store, and it worked like a charm. No hanging, even Telkom played along.

I had to update a few things to get Photoshop, etc to work, but it was simple and easy.

Gatekeeper threw me a little curve though, i had to force some programs to run, but now it works perfectly.

You know you can configure Gatekeeper to allow either only Appstore , only appstore and okes like Thomas, or all apps, right?

I particularly like how one can install ML on the iMac AND the MBP without being told I am a dirty software pirate who should be ashamed at trying to install my copy of the OS on more than 1 machine.

I also found that pretty epic.
I dont think I actually know of another software group who share the same policy, except Linux, which is open source based.

Everyone anticipated Gatekeeper to be the start of a software monopoly regime from Apple, but it really isn't. Its just a tool to assist you in making the decision whether to trust third party, untested code to run on your machine or not. Its a way of leaving it up to the user if something goes wrong. It would have been their own decision to make, and Apple cannot be held liable if the shit hits the fan.

Technically there is no such thing as a Mac virus. There is however very malicious code which can seriously f up your machine... however 10 out of 10 times this was brought on by the user allowing it to happen. The whole Flashback debacle was because users selected "OK" when asked if they wanted to install it.

If you do install ML, one of the firrst things it requests to download and install afterwards is a Java update (its about 40megs I think) which allows PS to run properly... after that its all good :)
