I've had numerous togs ask me to do a shoot with them, then they later say "I may consider doing TFCD but I normally charge" or something similar. How "may" you consider it if you're the one asking me? Shouldn't the tog then be paying me or doing it TFCD, regardless of whether or not they normally charge if they approach the model with their idea?

Very few photographers here on MB will ever pay, photographers work for 3rd parties and these 3rd parties pay.

Stock photographers should pay but there are very few that actually make any money.

Its a catch 22, the established guys you should be working with will not approach you and the guys wanting to build their port will normally not pay you.

you should assume any approach to be one based on TFCD unless stated otherwise.

You got a good look and should do well, if you don't like someone's attitude just move on (in a nice way).

Finally! There's too many togs ranting about models, it's time we heard the other side :)

I think whoever pays for the images owns the images, unless otherwise stated in a contract.

Doing a TFCD shoot is a bit of a grey area so I tend to avoid it unless the model is worth the risk. I rather pay and be clear who has creative control and ownership. (and then I can take my time creating things that make money in the long run)

Izak, I'm glad you agree with me.

It's just as good as me going to a photographer and saying "Please shoot this idea for me. It'll be great! All you need to do is pay me R500 (or whatever) for my time."

If you ask somebody a favour, you don't tell them to pay you.

Yes that one thing I have also come across, I was asked to do a shoot location and then I was asked to pay for the editing of it. I said but you said TFCD. And never heard from them again.

Or you get asked to do a shoot and then you told ok we will come back to you and never hear from them again and then you see they have a open call on the forums *confusedbbmface*
And they have a forum about models not responding to castings?

Generally the copyright belongs to the creator of the image. In this case the photographer, credits lists others involved who may have license to use the work for portfolio purposes. This is often the point of TFCD.

On commissioned work copyright and license rights are negotiated and agreed upon beforehand.

I agree with Jossie you don't contact some one with an idea and then expect that they should pay you.

I would never contact a model and say I have this idea do you want to shoot? It will cost you about Rxxx

Jossie, I'm afraid you must have been dealing with idiots, not photographers. If you get a shoot request from a decent photographer he/she will never ask you to then pay for the shoot...Who were these fools?

In saying its numerous togs.....

Its obviously no-one we should be worried about. Its like those no-show models.

Any normal photographer would have more logic - so in my books this is nothing to worry about.
