I have no problem with it. I just involve them on the shoot as general assistants. This last weekend I had model, mother, brother and uncle all involved and the shoot was just awesome.

chaperones, yes, on the condition that they are not a) male and b) a parent.

Mothers and boyfriends/husbands ruins shoots faster than a bounced lens.

I must say, I have never had this experience and don't see why the generalisation should apply.

what Gerry said.

but it depends.

I encourage girl friends.

the worst is when the chaperone tries to become the art director, then they get to sit in the car.

Ok, lets take it one step further.

Experience model, paid work brings bf along as chaperone. BF is also a photographer.

On lacation, BF carries her from one place to another. I guess not for her feet to get dirty.

I've brought my bf to 'fun' shoots or tfcd 'play time' shoots, but i think if its a professional job- leave him in the car, or at home- or doesnt he have a job as well??? :/

I think it does also depend on the relationship between the tog and model, a few togs that i know very well and that i collaborate often with definitely wouldnt mind me bringing my bf along, but if its paid professional work i dont think its professional for my bf to be carrying me around...its 'tacky' behaviour- if that makes sense

I don't see it as a chaperone then. The whole purpose of bringing a chaperone is for safety and protection to a stranger.

I wont mind a bf either if i worked with model often....at least i will know her well enough to know if the bf is influencing her work compared to previous shoots.

I've got a model I work with regularly - awesome lady. On one shoot the BF was with - not a single usable shot. He encroached so badly at the end of the day it was as if we were shooting couple-shots as opposed to a model. Ah well, live and learn.
