I have launched a small "boutique" agency called BODYSHOTS to cater for amateur and pro photographers looking for nude models for art photography. We currently have around 15 models of all races keen to work at a rate of R 500/hr.

PM me if you're looking for nude models to shoot in Cape Town. These are some of the models who are available... " title=" " title=" " title=" " title="

This is what MB is turning into. As soon as you mention nudes, theres a payment required!
Just tried to google it and cant find anything? Are you on the web?
Yup, great, you got a whole bunch of girls willing to get their kit off, but can they model???
I recently shot a model overseas who had some great pics in her port, paid by the way, only to find out that she didnt have a clue how to model whatsoever. Obviously the photographers have placed her in a postion and told her to hold that and got the shot.
Please dont get me wrong, i have worked with loads of girls, some of them on their first shoot and got what i wanted. If i am paying for a model i want her to know how to model, i dont want to spend alll my time putting them in poses as they havent got a clue as to what looks good.
Most models on here think that as soon as nudity is mentioned then there should be payment. They dont realise thats just another string to their bow.
So then, should i charge more for using my R10000 ring flash or my pocket wizards or my underwater housing? its just another string to my bow.
Dont get me wrong here, i wish you luck with your agency and getting the girls out there, but hate the idea of just because youre getting your kit off you should be paid!
My view on it all is when you download your pics at the end of the day, how many keepers do you have? With someone whos being paid i expect to get over 50%.
I have shot some of the best net models in the UK who actually know how to pose. I get 80% of keepers from them, can any of these girls do the same?

Isn't it obvious from the photos above they can model? It's the tog's responsibility to direct models in the manner is which he/she wishes to capture their image.

Well done Derek. Kudus to you mate for taking a lead in this niche sector.

I dont agree with this totally. It is a tog's job to direct a mondel, meaning tell her what he wants. It's not his job to pose her like a maniquin or pinch her face into the right expression.

You dont see me telling the mua how to apply make-up, why should I tell a model how to do her job?

Sorry for the hijack Derek lol

Des, not its not obvious! I've got loads of shots in my port like that from models who don't know how to pose.
I have no problem directing models whatsoever.
I'm takling about modelling here, not just posing as the photographer wants you to.
I've worked with enough professional models to know the difference. That's the problem here on MB, most people haven't and don't know the difference!
As Giselle recently said,' I know what every single turn of my foot will look like.'In other words she models, not just gets her kit off and expect to be paid! i

@ Alec D. The launch of Bodyshots has nothing to do with the state of MB - it's a model agency geared at supplying nude models to a niche of the market which is sadly neglected in SA. Your post does however show how bad things have become on MB. If you've had bad experiences abroad with paying models who can't model, then take it up with those models.

Bodyshots represents models who specialise in nude modelling, at an hourly rate which is very reasonable. If you have a problem with paying for models, then don't use the service and find your own models by all means.

What MB has really come to is this situation: one can barely post anything on the forum without facing personal attack.

Derek,
That honestly wasnt a personal attack by any means and apologise if it came over that way.
I honestly havent any problem, and in no ways did i associate Bodyshots with MB. I only mentioned i couldnt find it on google.
What i wanted to know is am i paying for models to get their clothes off or can they actually model? I have had numerous grils from so called 'GOOD' SA model agencies who havent a clue how to model, not that its a problem but i want to know what im paying for. Not that theres any likelyhood of me hiring models as they CT based anyway.
I do NOT have any problem paying for models and have done so on loads of occasions, it when its misrepresented thats it gets to me.
Apologies once again, as this obviously came over the wrong way.

and therein lies the rub... I can get a teasers girl for less than R500 p/h to take her kit off.

@ Alec D: Thanks for calling me to apologise as well as posting your apology here. It is much appreciated. The models at BODYSHOTS have all had experience posing in the nude and know what they're doing. I have literally taught some of them from scratch...

That said, I do feel that the photographer needs to take the lead and direct his/her models on a shoot, instead of relying on stock poses models may come up with.

Strippers make the worst ever models...

I fully agree with you Derek. However, there is a difference between a model and a maniquin.

If you're into S&M and want to have a nightmare shoot, then hire a Russian stripper and try and do a shoot with her :) Talk about diva's...

Of course, there are in fact very few really excellent models out there, as in any field. The guys and girls who make it to the top are there for good reason. The vast pool of "models" are just trying - if you're lucky.

It seems that when it comes to nude models the situation is generally a difficult one for most photographers and hobbyists. It is for this reason that I've started BODYSHOTS.
