Well, sometimes there are fights on a playground, but it is still a playground...

And Blade did a wonderful job, can just imagine what would us all do it it was not for this thread - None of us have shoots today, some don't have work - the romantics among us - others do have work, just way more fun in here.

Christo - please boet, you are frustrated, you are angry - calm down, stop screaming - go jump on the bed!

You are one of the most respected members here on MB. don't go flying off handles you dont need to. its still a playground.

Gerry I'm not angry but I am frustrated. i'm frustrated because the playground no longer works. The swings are broken and not only will no-one fix them, the very same people who told me not to jump on them are now telling me not to tell others not to jump on them.

We think we are playing in a sandpit but in reality we are playing in a massive pothole.

It could just be me though. If I look that this thread it probably is just me. As you said, in the greater scheme of things what does it matter. Archi deleted his profile and no-one missed a beat.

I'm not flying off the handle. I cant the handle has broken off and no-one wants to replace it.

Ironically it is also the busiest playground around. Proves my point that people are masachists.

Christo, I think you're grossly misunderstanding me.

By all means advise people about the unwritten, self developed 'rules' of the site.

The point is that until they are actual 'rules' they cannot be enforced.

I still advise people of the 'generally accepted' etiquette where I can but I understand the other side of the coin as mentioned above.

For this reason I feel it's in no-ones interest to publicly ridicule and badmouth members who (for whatever reason) broke the 'rules' if there isn't a reasonable alternative provided.

New members are regularly complaining that the regulars are always jumping down their throats or that there is a 'click' on the forums, we've been here ages and understand the workings - they don't..

All I'm saying is that I can understand why the 'rule' gets 'broken' so often, we need to somehow fix the site - not chase away unwitting newbies.

Ai, I thought my comparison was so nicely written. Especially the "We think we are playing in a sandpit but in reality we are playing in a massive pothole." bit. I thought it was very enlightened.

Matt your right. except that todays newbies become tomorrow's regulars and then they start jumping down people's throats. They need to earn the right first.

I also understand why "the rule" gets broken. it is simple. There is no rule and even if there was one there is no person or thing that can enforce it and we both know that is not likely to ever change.

So what is the alternative? We follow goverment's example and say "If we ignore it they will get used to it eventually and stop bitching"?

MB is such a cool site and it has LOADS of potential. I have met so many awesome people here but the fact is I'm tired of playing in a pothole. What frustrates me is that I seem to be the only one.

So, how about one of our crop of MB web developers spend a few minutes re-writing the content of etiquette.php to include the niceties that we all long for, submit it to Blade for approval and request that he simply overwrite the existing content.
Make it easy for the man.

Ah, I can't be arsed, frankly. but thanks.

I'm not a keeper of morals nor a maker of rules. So if someone like christo wants to run the rules in normal text....
