Matt, Thomas and Haniki I've been thinking about this and whether or not we should bitch and moan about the mass uploads.

I will make the following assuptions.

1. There will probably never be a site restriction on uploads. Let's face it this is very low on our Overlord's priority list.

2. We upload to have our images seen and to get feedback. I doubt that any of us upload images because we are bored and have nothing better to do.

Right, now if, like Gerry and I and a few others, you upload 1 or 2 images at a time, what are the chances of them being seen in and amongst the masses of uploads at any given time? Have a look at the recents posts right now. Could be any time of any day. mass uploads all over the place. If your images are not seen, it defeats the purpose of uploading them.

So, since the site is a living creature we need to adapt to it right? Quantity rather than quality seems to be the acceptable norm here.

This brings me to the following conclusion. Either join the mass upload craze (which Matt seems to be in favour of) or just dont upload (as Thomas does).

Dont either options sound a bit counter productive to you? Why is it so much to ask for people to just be considerate of others?

Anyways, I will probably join the "just dont upload" growd since I wont be shooting much anymore.

I just dont think sitting around and going "Well hey that is the way the site is, let them do as they wish" is helping anybody. Granted bitching about it doesnt really help either but at least it feels better than just accepting things as they are.

It petty bitching bout having your photo on the front page for what.... 10 min? And that on Modelbase, its not a 10 minutes live on morning news for the whole world to see.

Its not about that 10 min, its about having your portfolio in order or updated so that when someone actually takes the time to go to your page (whether it be a member or not) they view a complete portfolio, not a new upload. And those that is on this site, actually do that, well the regulars, I know I do... I probably wouldn't notice your "new upload" but I would go to your page if, for example, we have a forum discussion and I see a new profile pic, that obviously means new work, and I would much rather be going on to your profile based on that to see your updated work.

This is an interesting conundrum...

Haniki has a point - its like on the front page for 10 minutes, does it really matter? Your reputation is more valuable as to your single upload.... I dunno, I also get pissed off when I'm spammed into page 7 withing an hour, but in the greater scheme of things - does it matter that much?

I stand corrected.

However, I dont really care about the front page. thats not what I am talking about.

What about the people who upload and dont change their profile pics? I dont have time to go visit the portfolio of everybody I chat with on a regular basis. That is why i check the recently uploaded pages. So if you add a new pic and it gets spammed of by someone uploaded 100 pics well then i wont get to see your pic will I? Isnt that what the recently uploaded pages are there for? So that epople can see what was uploaded instead of going to through 200 portfolios every day and hoping you see something new.

Your point, however, is made. MB has become redundant. Accept it and stop bitching or move on and stop bitching.

No it doesnt. And in the greater scheme of things it doesnt matter much of Gerry has a profile on MB, or Matt or Christo or Thomas or Nolan or Haniki or anybody for that matter. In the greater scheme of things it doesnt even matter if there is MB.

However, there is a MB and we all have profiles.

I'm certainly not in favour of mass uploading to piss people off, but I think an occasional mass upload to keep your page updated is acceptable.

Rather be one of those people who uploads a proper portfolio occasionally than one of those who trickle in a different angle of the same shoot consistently over the next few weeks to get people to look at them.

What I'm saying is that it's a glitch that affects everyone, but it's better that people remain active on the site and keep their portfolios up to date (which I'm guilty of not doing) than leave entirely because they have everyone down their throats when they are active.

It's funny that this whole bitching thread went off course in any case, it was referring to multiple forum posters. lol

Their choice... However, most do Christo!

Look at Gerry's, look at yours, all recent! When I visited your page yesterday it wasn't because I saw a new upload, I saw a different profile pic, meaning ooo, he has new work, lets go check... and honestly, it takes less than a minute so don't go "i don't have time" on me... ill keeel you!!!

Can we have a group-hug now???

what CAN we do about it? As said ad nauseum - We're here, arent we? despite the HOST of problems, he still gets as many hits an hour as my site gets in a year. Why should he do anyhting about it? Why work at something if it still generatetes thousands of hits a day?
