About BlkJax

From the very first time I picked up an eyeliner pencil, I knew, Make Up was my calling.

Ever since then I have been gradually buliding up my skills, working with some wonderfully talented photographers and models and each and every shoot has taught me something new.

One of my biggest inspirations was my design teacher back in college, Mark Rautenbach. When I saw him for the first time, I somehow knew he would make great changes in my life. He taught me to never doubt myself, to push the boundaries given to me and to always express myself no matter what. I have taken his advice and put it into everything that I do.

I am beginning my studies for a Motion Picture Make Up Certificate at City Varsity this year and hoping to complete three years there if possible. I am very excited to start studying and learning new things, and am also very keen to participate in their Body Spectra at the end of the year.

I am not claiming to be a professional, nor do I think I am better than any other make up artist out there. I am still very much learning as I go along. But I am fiercely passionate about what I do, and will always strive to deliver the best results I can.

One of the first photgraphers I worked with was Ronnie Belcher. It was truly amazing to finally have someone photograph my work and he inspired many fantastic shoots and ideas. In the short time I have know him, he has given me so many wonderful opportunities and even the chance to work on the set of their newest short film 'Anna'. I am ever grateful to him and to all the fabulous creative people he has introduced me too for all their help in my journey.

Then of course, I am endlessly thankful for all the support I have been given from those closest to me. To Georgia, my absolute angel, helping me out with hair and ideas and always telling me I am going to make it one day. To my Mother and Deon, who have really given me the confidence I needed to just do what I love and forget the rest. All the constructive criticism has been duely noted.

But thats enough of that, back to make up! :)

I love the Avant - Garde and Fantasy the most, but am able to do almost anything else really.

I can do make up for Weddings, Matric Dances, Photoshoots, Events, for Children and so on. The sky is the limit.

Please note however, that I do not have a full professional kit yet, so I make do with what I have, till such time that I can afford to get a whole lot of new goodies for my box.
