Studio Lighting from start to finish
This is a in depth 1 day course where Richard will take you from little or no knowledge to having a vast understanding of how to use studio flashes, light meters and lighting set ups to achieve better images.
The day is broken down into a classroom session where we look at studio flash units, the different ways of how to fire them, sync speeds, light meters, hard and soft modifiers, lighting supports and classic lighting set ups. We also cover settings on the camera, lens choice, shooting angles and shooting heights. We discuss the advantages of shooting tethered. We discuss the use of poly boards and reflectors to bounce light and create more contrast in images.
Once we complete this there is a brief discussion on working with professional makeup artists and stylists.
After the classroom session, we move in to the studio where a professional model will be made up and ready. Here we will go through numerous lighting setups, live demos, work on posing your talent and see the difference bewteen hard and soft light modifiers. You will then begin with practical training and start shooting a variaty of different images.
From simple single light set ups to complex multiple light set ups you will be shown how to create the images you have always wanted.
After this one day workshop you should be able to confidently work with both inexperienced and experienced models in a photographic studio and achieve a variety of different moods and effects.
Students are encouraged to submit work for critique after the workshop. Refreshments are provided including a light lunch, please advise us in advance of any special dietary requirements.
